Video Poker is a beloved game that usually will be gambled on in casinos across the globe, or in your house on your computer, through a net connection. The game rules are very straightforward and involve the player attempting to achieve the greatest mixture of cards possible in order to win money. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, without the interaction with other players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Video Poker starts when the enthusiast puts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of five cards will be "given out" on the screen.

The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and enthusiasts should now pick which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the enthusiast would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.

After the enthusiast has chosen which cards he would like to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards are needed they will be given out. The hand is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.

Typically, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the payment schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that skillful bettors are able to select the most beneficial game every instance.

After the first round has finished, the player can either decide to continue on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that might been won. Further, a few styles of the game give the player a chance to increase their wins, in which situation a further round is played. There are also differences among specific machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
