Video Poker is a beloved game that can be enjoyed in casinos across the world, or in your house on your computer, using a web account. The rules are absolutely simple and involve the player trying to get the greatest assemblage of cards possible in order to come away with money. In this respect it is very similar as a classic game of poker, apart from the interaction with any other players. Of course, methods used in a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless here.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the bettor puts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and presses the deal button. A hand of 5 cards will be electronically ‘handed out’ on the video screen.

The Video Poker game also has hold buttons, and bettors will need to now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.

After the enthusiast has decided on which cards he wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards are given out if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.

Generally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can change from machine to machine, so that knowledgeable players are able to choose the most beneficial machine each time.

Once the first round has played out, the player can either choose to stay on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Additionally, a few versions of the game allow the gambler a chance to double their profits, in which case a further hand is played. There are also variations among specific games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
