Video Poker is a popular game that can be played in casinos throughout the globe, or alternatively at your house on your personal computer, using a web connection. The regulations are very simple and consist of the player trying to achieve the highest mixture of cards possible in order to win money. In this respect it is much the same as a regular game of poker, apart from the involvement with other players. Of course, tactics employed during a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler puts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will be electronically ‘handed out’ on the video screen.

The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and bettors should now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the player wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the player has decided on which cards she would like to retain, they should press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards will be handed out if desired. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.

Typically, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the payout schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that knowledgeable bettors are agile enough to pick the most money-making machine each instance.

After the first round has completed, the player can either choose to remain on and try to to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Further, a few versions of the game give the gambler an opportunity to increase their profits, in which situation a further game is played. There are also differences among individual machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying elements to enhance playability.
