Video Poker is a favored game that usually will be wagered on in casinos all over the world, or in your house on your PC, using a net connection. The game rules are very straightforward and consist of the player trying to achieve the best combination of cards achievable in order to win cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, minus the interaction with any other players. Of course, methods used in a physical game of poker, such as bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker begins when the player inserts credits (whether it’s tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the deal button. A five card hand will be "handed out" on the video screen.
The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and enthusiasts will need to now pick which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the gambler would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.
After the player has selected which cards he or she wishes to retain, they should press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards will be needed they will be given out. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.
Normally, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the payout schedule can range from game to game, so that discerning gamblers are agile enough to select the most beneficial machine each time.
Once the first round has completed, the player can either decide to continue on and try to to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that has been won. Additionally, some styles of the game give the player a chance to double their profits, in which instance another game is played. There are also differences among specific games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
