Electronic Poker is a beloved game that can be enjoyed in casinos across the globe, or alternatively at your house on your computer, through an Internet connection. The game rules are absolutely simple and consist of the player trying to achieve the best combination of cards as you can in order to acquire cash. On this account it’s very similar as a regular game of poker, minus the involvement with any other players. Of course, tactics used in a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the player puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and presses the deal button. A five card hand will be "dealt" on the screen.

The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and bettors will need to now decide which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.

After the player has selected which cards he wishes to keep, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards will be given out if desired. The hand is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.

Normally, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the payment schedule can vary from game to game, so that discerning gamblers are able to select the most profitable machine each time.

Once the first round has played out, the player can either decide to stay on and try to to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that has been won. Further, some styles of the game allow the gambler a chance to double their winnings, in which situation a further game is played. There are also variations among individual games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying characteristics to increase playability.
